How to Calculate cutting length (BBS) of rectangular stirrups?
How to calculate proper BBS of any size of stirrups.
Cutting the length of the rectangular stirrup is very important because in every Beam and Column, we use stirrups and the mean is the most important part of the construction work. Its length and weight calculation are very easy and simple. Without known the proper length (BBS) and proper quantity of the stirrups, it is very difficult to do the construction work properly.
Cutting the length of the stirrup.
Given Data From Drawing.
Column Size = 200 x 600
Stirrups bar size = 8mm
Cover = 25mm
Hook Length = 10d or not Less Than 75 mm
45° Bend = 1d
90° Bend = 2d
135° Bend = 3d
a= 200 mm and b= 600 mm ( Refer to Above Image for A and B Value )
Minus Both Side Cover from a and b
a= 200-(2𝑥25) = 150
b= 600-(2𝑥25) = 550
Cutting length of rectangular stirrups
Add a and b from both side than plus look length and than minus all type band.
Cutting Length = (2 𝑥 a) +(2 𝑥 b) +No. of hook – (No. of 90 degree bend) -(No. of 135 degree bend )
Cutting Length = (2𝑥a) +(2𝑥b) +(2𝑥10𝑥d) -(3𝑥2𝑥d) -(2𝑥3𝑥d)
length = (2𝑥150) +(2𝑥550) +(2𝑥10𝑥8) -(3𝑥2𝑥8) -(2𝑥3𝑥8)
= 1464 mm
= 1.464 m
Weight of stirrups
= d2/162 x(Cutting Length) d= 8 MM
= 64/162 x 1.464 = 0.578 kg
